We are beyond thrilled to welcome Pomarosa into the Achachay ecosystem. Each creation by designer Marcela Amoroso is inspired by the rich history and traditions of Latin America, as well as her own journey of self-fulfillment—an inspiration to us all.
From sourcing sustainable materials like organic cotton, plant-based dyes, and locally sourced textiles to fostering economic impact, Pomarosa exemplifies the incredible potential of Latin American designers. Their stunning home and fashion pieces beautifully blend tradition with a modern global appeal.
Sustainable Fashion Rooted in Tradition
At the heart of Pomarosa lies a deep commitment to sustainable fashion. Each garment is meticulously handcrafted using eco-friendly materials, ensuring minimal environmental impact. This approach not only preserves traditional craftsmanship but also encourages ethical fashion choices among conscious consumers.
Pomarosa carefully selects natural fibers such as wool, cotton, and linen, reinforcing a connection to earth and nature.
Designer Marcela Amoroso shares the inspiration behind the “Reaching the Summit” Collection—a journey translated into textures, colors, and details. She chose contrasting textures, blending rough and smooth surfaces to reflect both the struggles of ascending Peru’s Rainbow Mountain and the serenity of reaching its peak. The collection’s vibrant and neutral tones mirror the breathtaking landscape, while the intricate embroidery and textured ruching draw inspiration from the mountain’s colorful layers and peaks, capturing the essence of the experience.
What makes Marcela’s creative process truly remarkable is how her inspiration comes to life in each piece. The experience of seeing and wearing a Pomarosa garment reveals its unique story—a narrative woven into the textures, colors, and craftsmanship of every design.
Empowering Women Artisans
Pomarosa’s mission extends beyond fashion—it’s about making a tangible social impact. By collaborating directly with skilled women seamstresses, the brand provides them with fair wages and opportunities for economic independence. This partnership fosters community development and uplifts artisans’ families, creating a ripple effect of positive change.
During our visit to the Pomarosa factory, we spoke with more than 30 women, all heads of household, who work meticulously to craft Pomarosa’s home and fashion lines. The women expressed their gratitude for having a job that ensures their families’ livelihood while allowing them to do something they love.

Meet Marcela Amoroso
Marcela Amoroso’s journey began in Cuenca, Ecuador, where her passion for design took root at an early age. At 18, she left her hometown to study interior design at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York. There, she honed her creativity, working on elaborate visual displays for renowned department stores like Macy’s and Saks Fifth Avenue.
After five years in the fast-paced design world of Manhattan, Marcela returned to Ecuador in 1994, settling in Quito. Balancing motherhood and a professional career, she explored various creative ventures until a single request from a friend sparked what would become Pomarosa— a brand that seamlessly blends artistry, craftsmanship, and social impact. From hand-crafted rugs to an expansive home décor and fashion line, Pomarosa has grown into a thriving business, employing over 30 women artisans.
Through resilience, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to her craft, Marcela has transformed her vision into a brand that celebrates Ecuadorian heritage while empowering local talent.
